Wings of Sympathy

I debated and debated whether or not to share this. But as you can see, I've chosen to. Its another sympathy card share. (Can you tell, its been a hard month/week?)

This card is very simple but the idea and thought behind this was to give something peaceful, soothing, and loving.

I couldn't write down the words that truly conveyed my thoughts and prayers but leaning on this set, helped. This was my way of packaging my love and sending it to them.

Silhouette Sentiments

I have to say, I hated making this card! Sympathy cards are the hardest to make. Its the obvious. You just feel terrible for your friend or family member who has lost someone very dear to them. How do you convey your feelings in words or even comfort them? This is the best that I could.

I wanted to make something beautiful, soothing and send a comforting message. I hope they felt my love for them because as the verse says: I really was praying for friends and family to comfort them, for their faith to help them stay strong and look forward to a reunion in Heaven, and the loving and happy memories to heal them.

Benefits of Tea

Over the years, people have been learning the great health benefits to drinking tea. But how about the benefits of making a teapot for charity? I think its just as healthy...for the soul!

There's nothing better than the gift of giving and especially when its for a good EXCELLENT cause! Stampin' Up! has partnered with Ronald McDonald House as its charity of choice. So, demonstrators who live close to one can volunteer and help. The methods and commitment vary from house to house but I just love ours. The house brings comfort and provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.  But they provide a lot more! To continue these various programs and in maintaining the house, the OC Ronald McDonald House is having their annual High Tea. We've been asked to make party favors for their guests.

Aren't these just clever? Our fearless leader, Karen Moody, drafted this sample to use at the Orange County Ronald McDonald House High Tea Event. (And by the way, not all McDonalds contribute to this charity and wasn't even started by McDonalds, the fast food chain. Just a fact I learned.) Anyway, I'm having an event where you can come and help me make some of these to send off. As a thank you, you'll also get to make one for yourself to take home with you.

2 Medals & 13.1 miles Later

I can't remember if I shared with you my Disney World Princess Half Marathon.
Matching Outfits!!!

Well, in case that I didn't, I ran it with a couple of girl friends because I just thought it would be fun. Come on, Princess . . that's all you need right? Well, we did really well for our first (completed in 3 hours) and found out that if you ran in both a Disney World and Disneyland Half Marathon in the same year, you could win a Coast to Coast Medal. After seeing the beauty, oh yeah...we were in! So, when it was time to run Disneyland this past weekend, I had to get my girls and myself other matching outfits!

Socks and all! (Compression socks that are functional and so cute!!!)

And see what it said on the back of our tanks?

But I was able to complete the Disneyland HALF Marathon in 2:53. (That's less than my time from Disneyworld's Princess Run.) So I've beaten my own record! Yahooo!!!!! The funny thing was when everyone was checking their times, I really didn't want to know because what if it was over 3 hours? (I didn't train for this run as I should have so I was nervous.) But when my hubby told me my time, I was jumping up and down like I just won the lottery! Silliness!!! My husband, however, ran his first half marathon with me and he had an amazing time of 1:52:38. He's already got us signed up for another half marathon in February. I'm not too sure yet! My legs are still sore and can get barely down the stairs in my home!

Finally finished. (See our buddies in silver blankets??..waited about an hour for us. LOL)

Now let me show you the beauties....

All these pictures are thanks to Sarah. I actually am signed up for the Tiffany/Nike Half in San Francisco in October. Wish me luck. And thanks for letting me share this achievement with you. I'll be back with Stampin' Up! stuff later this week.

    Wicked Cool Fun

Tonight's Bunco Night was WICKEDLY FUN!!!! Thanks to all the wonderful women that came. It was  nice to meet so many new faces and see old friends. I hope that all that attended had fun and can't wait to do it again next quarter!

Not only did we have fun playing the game, we made these fun treat boxes with the new Candy Wrapper Bigz Die (120890) from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

    1.  Run the DSP (Designer Series Paper) through the big shot and fold at each score line.  TIP: Its very important to fold EVERY score line so that when its time to twist the ends, it will go smoother.

    2.  Use sticky strip along the short end and assemble box.
    3.  Twist the ends and fan out. TIP: Crease at the corners where the notch is cut out, push in toward the box and twist. It takes some time to get used to but it'll just happen! (Its magic!)
    4.  Make a ribbon band by using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch and wrap around the box.
    5.  Stamp your image onto Whisper White card stock.
    6.  Cut out a Scallop Circle from Basic Black card stock.
    7.  Cut out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch and adhere to the Black Scallop Circle.
    8.  Adhere to box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
    9.  Apply Crystal Effects to the edges and sprinkle the glitter and shake off excess.

Don't you just love the "bling" on the perimeter of the focal point? Its our new Silver Glass Glitter. Its different from Stampin' Up!'s chunky glitter and in time, this glitter will age to give it a more vintage-y look. (You know wherever I can put "bling" I will.)

    {Project Details}
    Stamp: Wicked Cool (118738)
Ink: Basic Black Classic Ink Pad; Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write Markers.
Paper: Basic Black, Old Olive, and Whisper White Card Stock; Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper.
Accessories: Big Shot and Bigz L Candy Wrapper; 1-3/8" Circle, Scallop Circle, and Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punches; Silver Glass Glitter, Crystal Effects and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Whoo's the Cutest of them OWL?

    This owl of course!

This is the other make and take we made at the "Sweet Tweet" workshop. It involves the Big Shot and the wonderful Two Tags Bigz Die.
As you can see, the blue line across the wide tag is a score mark. So that it folds up and tucks underneath that top slit. But instead, we folded the top and adhered Whisper White card stock to the front. (I confess that I didn't come up with this idea but I can't remember who did. Sorry. If the original person passes by this site or you know, please let me know.)  I just love the Poppy Parade In Color. It does just that ... pop! And "whoo" doesn't love this owl. Its a wonderful punch!

Ink: Early Espresso Classic Ink Pad
