Petal Pizzazz Wishes

Mojo Monday sketch challenges are always fun. Its nice to have the layout for you. But when you have a color scheme, it makes it even better! I decided to combine the sketch with this color combination from Dawn. The closest colors that I could get to her Melon & Berry colors were Cameo Coral and Regal Rose.

I recently posted a technique called Poppin' Pastels that I did with my stamp club. Well, I chose to do that same technique on this card but this time on a dark colored base. I used Whisper White CRAFT Ink instead of the Versamark and then "pounced" my chalk/pastels onto the stamped image. To complete this card:
1. Cut Very Vanilla card stock to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Score and fold in half to make a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" sized card.

2. Using my Big Shot and Texturz Plates, I ran my Very Vanilla card stock through to get the small raised polka dotted background. {TIP: Spray a little bit of water over the card stock to get a better impression.}
3. Cut the polka dotted textured card stock to 2"x 5-1/2" and place it over the Very Vanilla card stock base.

4. Cut Chocolate Chip card stock to 2-1/2" x 5-1/2".

5. Stamp flower images with Whisper White Craft Ink Pad and use Poppin' Pastels Technique.

6. Adhere the card stock to the bottom of the card and wrap Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon around the card (covering up the seam) and tie.

7. Using the Scallop Edge Punch, trim a Chocolate Chip card stock to frame the 2-3/8"x3" Cameo Coral card stock.

8. Stamp sentiment with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla card stock (2-1/4" x 2-7/8").

9. Layer Very Vanilla onto the Cameo Coral card stock.

10. Punch out a Scallop Square from Chocolate Chip card stock.

11. Stamp the bird image from Season of Friendship (111776) with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad onto a 1" square Very Vanilla card stock.

12. Layer onto 1-1/8" square of Cameo Coral card stock.

13. Layer onto the scallop square punched Chocolate Chip card stock with Stampin' Dimensionals and add the completed accent with dimensionals on to the card.

14. Thread hemp twine through the Chocolate Chip corduroy button and wrap around Regal Rose then tie. (You could use glue dots to adhere the button as well.)

Lots of Bots Stationery

My son saw this stationery tote
that I made with my stamp club. (Original idea came from Becky Roberts, you can check out her tutorial here.) And he wanted something like this for himself. So what did I do? Make him one of course!

I used the Lots of Bots stamp set from our new catalog. Available for order starting July 1st. And these wonderful in-colors soon to be gone by June 30th.

The inside of this tote holds 4 envelopes and a notepad with pen. I decorated the pen by inserting a stamped Whisper White card stock into the barrel of
the pen.

The pockets on the outside of the tote hold two of this pocket card

and two of this pocket card.

I only decorated the top of the Whisper White inserts so that Ian had a lot of space to write or draw whatever he pleased. He's sleeping now so I'm sure he'll be happily surprised when he wakes up in the morning to see that his mommy did indeed make him his robot stationery.

If you live in Southern California near Corona, please try to stop by my open house coming in July where I will reveal Stampin' Up!'s new catalog, have sign up sheets for my various clubs, and some fun make and take projects. I'll post more updates as soon as the date is finalized.

{Joelle's} Best Friends

My middle child, Joelle, is a lover of all animals but especially dogs. Unfortunately, she is allergic. Go figure! Her birthday is coming up and she requested Bolt (a Disney movie about a dog) and pool party. Unfortunately, I don't have a Bolt stamp but I do have these dogs. And for water??? Well, I drew in some water lines and water colored over the hydrant and added a beach ball that I made using my circle punch.

To make this beach ball:
1. Punch out 1 circle from 7 different colored card stock using the 1-1/4" circle punch.
2. Cut 6 circles in half and then cut a third out of the same half circled card stock to make a "pie" wedge.
3. Place 6 pie wedges of card stock onto the full circled card stock with each point in the center of the circle. The edges of the your pie wedge card stock may extend beyond the circle base.
4. Trim the edges.
5. Punch 1 circle using the 1/4" circle punch for the center of the ball.

Inspired by Nature

Tuesday is our last Stamp Club for this year and for our technique, I decided to teach the ladies Poppin' Pastels. I had forgotten how much fun it is to work with pastels or chalks and how fun this "old" technique is too. The pastels when used in this technique, give your card a softer look. I love how forgiving it is if you should make a mistake or have a heavy hand. I also love how easily you can add other colors to add even more dimension to your card.
"Inspired by Nature" is a stamp set that I received at last year's Stampin' Up! Convention. It was on the dormant list this past 6 months but you may see it come back to the main catalog for this next year! (*wink, wink*) However, most of the items I used on this card are retiring so make sure you purchase your supplies now. You can always shop here for your Stampin' Up! products 24/7.

For more information on this card or any that you've seen on this blog, please feel free to contact me.

Happy Birthday James . . .

This is a fun change in sketch design from Mojo Monday. A skinny, tall card. I feel like I should be at Starbucks ordering my favorite...tall, skinny caramel macchiato please! With that, I was tempted to make a card using a coffee theme. However, I was looking through my sneak peak stash and saw this wonderful print from "Paper Tall Tales" Designer Series Paper (115678). **Available for order July 1st. **

My mind just ran off with it and this is what transpired. A birthday card for my husband from all of us. The words truly do encompass what a wonderful dad and man my husband is. Happy Birthday James!

Kwerner Design Color Challenge

This color challenge was a lot of fun. I wouldn't think to use these colors together but it works very well together. They are fun and fresh! When I saw these colors, I wanted to use them with the new stamp set, Circle Circus (115778) available for order starting July 1.

I love this card because its clean, simple, and modern. I think I'll make a box of these to give as gifts or to stash for times when I need a thank you card! Hope you enjoyed!

To Have and To Hold

With today being Sunday and my last chance to submit this before the next Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, I thought it would only be appropriate to use "Last Chance" items from Stampin' Up!. Our cousin is getting married at the end of this month so I wanted to make this wedding card for the couple.

Her main colors are purple and green. So I tried to tie those colors into this card. Using Stampin' Up! chalk and blender pens, I did a water color technique onto the bride and groom. This is just simple and beautiful.

RMHC Father's Day Project

What a fun day today was. (Wednesday, June 10) A group of wonderful ladies and myself got together to make a few Father's Day gift packages for the dads staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Orange County. Our fearless leader Karen Moody has deck of cards and a couple chocolates to place into these boxes. The sweetest gifts come in small packages! Isn't that the truth?

Thank you to Michelle, Elisa, Julie, and Arlene for helping make these wonderful gifts.
If you or anyone you know would be interested in helping with the Ronald McDonald House Charity, please feel free to contact me.

The parents from my son's class had asked me to make a gift card holder for the teachers. I had seen a great double card slider technique which I thought would be perfect for this project.

Pull up on the tab and surprise!

Its a great card with functionality! This will be one of the projects we will be doing in our 2009-2010 stamp club. We work on different techniques, get free templates, and have great fun together. If you'd like to join the 2009-2010 stamp club, please contact me for more information.

A Fresh Cut

Mojo Monday Sketch challenges are always fun but especially those at the beginning of the month. Why? Because the first sketch challenge of each month is Mojo Madness time and that means its contest time.  I haven't been able to participate for awhile so it was fun to get in on this challenge.

I gave myself an extra challenge this time as well because I made myself use a stamp set that I am not particularly fond me. (I know...a stamp set that I don't like?). But I did it! When I originally stamped the main image, I did it in a single color. It needed something else! Then, I thought of using the Kiwi Kiss to highlight some of the image and coloring in the words with a basic black stampin' write marker to break it up a bit. I love how that came out. The addition of the butterfly gives it the extra touch and of course, no card can go without rhinestones! It adds the final classy touch to this card.
