Day 3 of Giveaways

Holiday season can be a little overwhelming with all the holiday parties, gift purchasing, and more. But I love it because I get a chance to talk and fellowship with friends that I may not be able to see as often as I'd like.

I had a party with one of my good friends and teacher assistants form our school not too long ago. Since it is the Christmas season, I wanted to make with her and her guests something extra special.

As you can see, we made THE ornament that is on the front cover of the Holiday Catalog and a matching card. Although the kit is no longer available, you can re-create it with these items: (you can get the bundle with the stamp set and coordinating framelits dies or you can purchase them separately)

Day 3 of my giveaways is just this--the Holiday Ornament Kit. It'll have supplies for you to make 10 ornaments. Today's giveaway is eligible only to previous hostesses.

However, you have until today 11:59 p.m. (PT) to qualify for Day 2's random drawing giveaway which I will announce tomorrow along with Day 3's winner.

All giveaways are available for US Residents only. Sorry but I hope you're enjoying the projects.

8 Days 'Til Christmas

Ian's class was asked by the room mom to bring in a handmade ornament or a store bought one to give to his teacher as part of a class gift. So guess what we did? Of course, we chose to make a handmade ornament. We decided to make one similar to the one that I made last year.

Really easy and fun. But because Stampin' Up! no longer carries the Pretties Kit, you could substitute the hat pin with ribbon and add the Simply Adorned charms or baubles to the bottom for extra pizzazz. The possibilites are endless.

To personalize it, (you cannot see it here in the picture) we stamped with the Tiny Tags and punched the image out with the Jewelry Tag Punch. Wrote in the Date and who had crafted it. All done and ready for delivery!

{Project Details}
Stamp: Tiny Tags (11091-W/118592-C)
Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad.
Paper: Very Vanilla card stock and Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper.
Accessories: Pretties Kit (retired) and Brights Glimmer Brad; 5/8" Crochet Trim Victoria and Clear Tinsel Trim; and Jewelry Tag Punch.

Holiday Ornament

Handmade Ornament.
I got this idea from Carol Dunstan on Splitcoaststampers. Its a simple and fun project for the Holidays. Not only can you use it to decorate your tree but makes a great gift topper or a gift in itself.

  1. Choose two coordinating designer series paper and cut a 3" AND 2" square from each paper.
  2. Trim the square pieces into 1/2" strips. (HINT: You should have 12 strips of 3"x 1/2" and 8 strips of 2"x 1/2".)
  3. Using the 1/16" hole punch, pierce each end of the strips about 1/4" in from the end.
  4. Remove the cap of the hatpin and thread one side of the 3" strips. Make sure to alternate each paper for a nice pattern.
  5. Start with the bottom strip (closest to the loop/eye of the hatpin) and thread the other end onto the pin.
  6. Repeat until all the strips are threaded, overlapping the other and always starting from the bottom.
  7. You should have something that looks like a ball.
  8. Repeat steps 4-6 with the 2" strips.
  9. Add the crystal beads and place the cap back onto the hatpin.
  10. Finish by adding the ribbon to the loop/eye of the hatpin and hang.
Doesn't it look FABULOUS?!

Christmas Ornaments

As the countdown to Christmas continues, I wanted to show you a simple way to make your own ornaments. You'll need a glass ornament, decorative paper, stamp, and staz-on ink pad. Pull out the top of the glass ornament to expose the hole. Cut strips of decorative paper and curl them (almost like quilling). Push these curled pieces through the hole. Fill until you're satisfied. Then close the ornament by replacing the top. Finally, take a stamp of your choice and stamp the exterior. Quick, simple, and so easy!  Here's a sample of what I did.
